Vibhuti · Lesson 1
The Highlight Reel of the Infinite
हन्त ते कथयिष्यामि दिव्या ह्यात्मविभूतयः
I shall tell you of My divine manifestations — the chief ones, for there is no end to My extent.
Have you ever tried to describe something so beautiful it broke your vocabulary? A sunset that made you stop mid-sentence. A piece of music that gave you chills you still can’t explain. That moment where the only honest response was silence.
That’s the problem Krishna faces in this verse. Arjuna asks, “Tell me about yourself — how do you pervade everything?” And Krishna essentially says: I’ll give you the highlights, because the full version has no end.
This is a radical idea. Most of us think of the sacred as separate — locked in temples, reserved for special occasions, accessible only through ritual. But Krishna is about to walk Arjuna through the everyday world and point at it. That mountain? Me. That river? Me. The best thing in every category you can imagine? A glimpse of me.
It’s like someone handing you a pair of glasses and saying, “Put these on. Now look at your ordinary Tuesday.” Suddenly the coffee tastes different. The light through the window looks intentional. Your friend’s laugh sounds like it was composed.
Wonder isn’t something you have to travel to find. It’s a way of seeing what’s already in front of you. And over the next ten lessons, we’re going to practice that seeing.
Reflect
Think of a moment recently when something ordinary stopped you in your tracks — a sound, a sight, a taste. What made it extraordinary?
